Kinze History Detail

1965-1969

1965

Jon Kinzenbaw founded Kinze Welding. With $5 in his checkbook and a $3,655 loan from his local bank in Victor, Iowa, he purchased a few new tools and some welding equipment, bought a building on contract and opened a small repair and welding shop in Ladora, Iowa.

1967

Jon built his first auger-unloading grain wagon with a PTO driven transmission and rear axle. This innovation enabled big loads of grain to be moved out of difficult, field harvest conditions.

1968

Jon custom-fabricated his first, high-flotation chemical and fertilizer applicators. During that same year, Jon began repowering farmers' tractors with larger engines (primarily Detroit Diesel V8s in John Deere® 5020s).

1969

Kinze's first, mass-produced product was an anhydrous ammonia applicator. The Kinze applicator was one of the first to use rolling coulters.
