First Kinze 4900 Assembled in Europe

Kinze
Members of the Kinze team from the United States and the Czech Republic recently assembled the first Kinze 4900 planter in Europe. Service teams from multiple dealerships throughout the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where the customer’s farming operation is located, worked together to help make this happen.  While large planters aren’t currently common in the European Union, farmers there are beginning to see the advantage of having larger, modern, equipment like the Kinze 4900. The complexity and size of the 4900 required the assembly team to be creative at times. For example, they had to figure out how to squeeze the planter from the assembly cell through a door to a neighboring service bay. In the end, the team overcame...

Ohio Farmer Knows He Can Count on Kinze

Kinze
Today, Sparks of Innovation takes you to De Graff, Ohio, where Steve Schlumbohm has been planting corn and soybeans with Kinze planters since 1978. Steve said he’s always liked the design of Kinze equipment and how it’s built. But that’s not the only thing that keeps him coming back to Kinze. “It comes back to the support system of the company, how good Kinze supports you and how good they make their products in the first place. You don’t have to have a lot of backup, but when you do, Kinze and our dealership have always taken care of us,” said Steve, who currently owns Kinze 4900, 3660 and 3600 planters. Watch the latest installment of Kinze in the Field to see why Steve believes Kinze cares for its...

Kinze is a Johnson Family Farming Tradition

Kinze
For Jerod Johnson, Kinze planters and grain carts have become part of his family’s farming tradition. His father purchased his first Kinze planter 25 years ago and the Johnson family has been using Kinze equipment on their farms near Avoca, Iowa ever since.  Originally, Kinze’s push row units caught the eye of Jerod’s dad. As he learned more about Kinze planters, he decided to switch brands and he purchased his first Kinze planter. Then when the family switched from 6 row to 12 row planting, they stuck with Kinze because of the unique center pivot toolbar, which made transportation between fields easy. Soon after, they purchased a Kinze grain cart with a new upright auger and scale so they could fill semis in...

Great Kinze Innovations: the Brush Type Seed Meter

Kinze
It was the late 1980s when engineer Harry Deckler came up with a big idea for a new seed meter that would allow farmers to plant soybeans with unmatched accuracy. Deckler was wholly confident in his idea, but his current employer didn’t share his enthusiasm and vision.   So Deckler reached out to Jon Kinzenbaw of Kinze Manufacturing. What followed would change the row crop planter industry forever. Until that time, soybeans were planted with a grain drill and were not accurately singulated. Deckler’s idea was to design a disc with seed pockets located around the periphery, which would agitate and singulate the seeds as the disc rotated within the seed reservoir. Kinzenbaw recognized its potential right away. “The companies...

Nebraska Farmer Likes His Planters Built Rugged

Kinze
Today, Sparks of Innovation takes you to Daykin, Nebraska, where Mike Homolka has been planting corn and soybeans with Kinze planters since 2003. “My first Kinze was a 3600 planter with 16 row 30 inch spacing. Ever since that first planter, I’ve always felt like Kinze products have been built very well. Structurally they have been very sound, and the technology that’s built into them generally has worked really well,” says Mike, who now plants with a Kinze 4900 16 row and uses a 1050 grain cart for harvest.  Watch the video below to see why Mike believes the reliability and the design of Kinze products are unmatched. The Yield Advantages of Kinze Split Row Planters

Kinze
When Kinze introduced the Planter Split Row System with “push-type” row units back in 1983, the basic premise was a row crop planter that was convertible between narrow and wide row spacing.  The Split Row Planter, or “Interplant System” as it was also referred to, helped farmers truly “split the rows.” They now had the capability to plant corn (30, 36 or 38 inch rows), then quickly convert to soybeans (15, 18 or 19 inch rows) by engaging the push-type units.  Two Crops, One Planter. The Split Row System offered several other advantages compared to the narrow row planters of the day. Staggering the push-type row units and mounting them on twin frames helped improve trash flow and seed placement...

Tough Planting Conditions Don’t Frighten This Illinois Farmer

Kinze
Today, Sparks of Innovation takes you to Hoopeston, Illinois, where Duane Sheppard counts on Kinze planters to plant seeds in the right place, at the right depth, even in the toughest planting conditions. “The dependability and durability (of Kinze planters) are second to none. Under certain conditions, when the ground is tough and hard, the Kinze planter will do the job and put it in the ground. And it will put it in right, and we don’t have to worry about bending or breaking parts. It’s just a heavy-duty, durable, simple machine,” said Duane, who plants with a Kinze 3600 16-32 split row planter.  Watch the latest installment of Kinze in the Field to see why Duane thought he’d “died and gone to Heaven”...
