Williamsburg, Iowa (Sept. 18, 2013) – Kinze® Manufacturing, Inc. is expanding facilities in Williamsburg, Iowa to accommodate the strong demand for the new 4900 planter model. The 4900 is a 30” spacing, front folding planter available in 12, 16 and 24 rows. It was launched to the public earlier this year and has many innovative features including a new frame with exclusive hydraulic weight transfer, a new row unit and a new vacuum meter that has the option to be electrically driven. It is available for 2014 spring planting.
The 4900 building addition is 128,000 square feet and will utilize the latest manufacturing technologies and ergonomics such as natural lighting through skylights and air filtration in the welding areas to produce this new planter. Kinze utilizes similar cellular manufacturing processes for other planter models, which allows for better efficiencies in how materials are handled. Building construction will be completed in late October and 4900 planter production will begin in early November.
